This fanciful electric vehicle would operate without any human assistance. There would only be passengers aboard since there’s no steering wheel or brake pedal. A large touch-screen would display speed and various infotainment, climate and navigation functions. The passenger compartment could be set up in a variety of positions, including forward or rear-facing front seats, and with or without a table between the two rows. The seats would also fully recline, allowing riders to snooze while heading to their destination. Although the Gen.Travel is a hypothetical exercise, VW says many of its features could find their way into production vehicles.
Even if the fully autonomous Gen.Travel concept never reaches the streets, the Sleuth thinks Volkswagen should consider a version with a steering wheel.
