The automaker has created a radically different-looking compact utility vehicle that launches in early 2022. Design elements include an aggressive-looking grille that resembles those attached to the Hyundai Sonata and Elantra sedans. The rest of the bodywork has plenty of crisp creases that finish with a knife-edge ridge across the liftgate. The Sportage’s interior is equally dramatic, with a large curved-glass dashboard that houses the gauges and infotainment screen. Rotary dials for the shifter and multi-mode drive selector dominate the floor console. There’s no official word on powertrains, but both four-cylinder and optional hybrid power systems are likely.
