Chevrolet’s plan to diversify the Corvette’s offerings is in full swing with the announcement of the all-wheel-drive 2024 E-Ray hybrid coupe and convertible. The E-Ray, which has the wider bodywork of the Z06 model, uses the 6.2-liter V-8 found in the base Corvette that delivers 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The E-Ray adds an electric motor supplying 160 horsepower and 125 pound-feet to the front wheels. The net output is 655 horsepower. According to Chevrolet, the E-Ray can accelerate to 60 mph from rest in 2.5 seconds and cover the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds. That’s supposedly quicker than the Z06 model. The E-Ray can also travel for short distances at speeds up to 45 mph in “Stealth” (electric) mode. Pricing for the coupe will start at $104,200, which the Sleuth thinks is incredible value. Look for it this fall.
