The Italy-based automaker’s luxury 2+2 sport coupe will show up for 2024 using a new platform and power teams, while displaying only modest changes to the bodywork. Replacing the Ferrari-supplied 454-horsepower 4.7-liter V-8 is Maserati’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that puts out 483 horsepower in the GranTurismo Modena model and 542 horsepower in the Trefeo version. A new GranTurismo Foglore trim comes with 750 horsepower worth of electric motors. Maserati says the Foglore can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.7 seconds and provide an estimated 210 miles of maximum range. A version of the redesigned Maserati GranTurismo will have…

This fanciful electric vehicle would operate without any human assistance. There would only be passengers aboard since there’s no steering wheel or brake pedal. A large touch-screen would display speed and various infotainment, climate and navigation functions. The passenger compartment could be set up in a variety of positions, including forward or rear-facing front seats, and with or without a table between the two rows. The seats would also fully recline, allowing riders to snooze while heading to their destination. Although the Gen.Travel is a hypothetical exercise, VW says many of its features could find their way into production vehicles.…

The HD version of Chevrolet’s pickup lineup comes in for some updating, starting with a slightly better looking grille and front bumper plus more attractive headlights and running lights. The HD’s three cab variants — regular, extended-length and four-door crew cab — get new materials and standard oversized touch-screens. Propulsion systems include a 6.6-liter V-8 with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The optional — and by far the most popular — 6.6-liter turbo-diesel is back but it’s now packing 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet (previously 445/910). Maximum towing is 36,000 pounds and payload is 7,442. For 2024, the…

Hyundai’s premium division has been busy of late. It recently added new electric-vehicle models to the lineup and more are on the horizon. The latest reveal in concept form is the Genesis X Speedium Coupe. The slinky full-size two-door has aggressively shaped fenders that contrast with the rest of the body’s smooth shape and fastback roofline. The Speedium’s seats, door panels, dashboard and steering wheel are covered in leather, with recycled car-seat material used for the wheel. Powertrain details haven’t been revealed, but a best guess by the Sleuth would see the Speedium Coupe — or something resembling it —…

The fancifully named Celestiq isn’t expected to arrive before 2024 (as a 2025 model) but functioning versions of the ultra-luxury electric vehicle have been spotted running the roads. The Celestiq is based on the upcoming Lyriq utility hatchback and is rumored to cost in the $300,000 range. That would make it the most expensive passenger vehicle in General Motors’ has ever sold. On the menu is all-wheel-drive and all-wheel-steering plus GM’s semi-autonomous Ultra Cruise technology. With two electric motors, the Celestiq is expected to produce about 1,000 horsepower and provide up to 400 miles of range. Standard content would include…

The plan is to end production of the current-generation gasoline-powered Dodge Charger, Challenger and Chrysler 300 after 2023 when the factory at which they’re built is retooled for new electrified product. As such, Dodge is saying “Last Call” for internal-combustion performance with series of Last Call models that dip into the brand’s distant past. The Charger Super Bee — as with the previously announced Challenger Shakedown — is available in regular or widened-fender (wide body) versions, and in classic Plum Crazy or B5 Blue paint. Each of the 1,000 planned Super Bees gets the 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 producing 485 horsepower…

The rumor mill suggests it’s a distinct possibility. Images of a compact battery-electric hatchback called the bZ3 recently appeared on a website in China, which suggests the initial launch will occur in that country sometime in 2023. However, Toyota’s penchant for offering such vehicles globally could indicate it will come to our shores later next year as a 2024 model. Dimensionally, the bZ3 is about four inches longer than the Toyota Corolla and comes with a single electric motor producing up to 240 horsepower. The bZ3 is built using the platform that also supports the 2023 Toyota bZ4X and Subaru…

The company’s EV concept is sized between the five-passenger RDX and the seven-passenger MDX. The production version of the Acura Precision EV is expected to launch as the ZDX for 2024. You might recall the name from a previous swept-back utility vehicle from decade ago. The ZDX is being developed with General Motors and will use that automaker’s battery platform. The fanciful interior has a steering yoke similar to what’s found in a Formula One race car, which will be replaced by a conventional wheel for production. Details regarding range and power output haven’t been announced. The production version of…

The planned retirement of the Dodge Challenger and Charger models after 2023 will make way for the battery-electric Charger Daytona SRT. Shown in concept form in August, the coupe bears a not-unintentional resemblance to the second-generation Charger that arrived for the 1968 model year. Among the EV’s unique features is a front “R-Wing” located directly above the hood, and something called a Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust that produces simulated sounds of an internal-combustion V-8 engine. There’s a “multi-speed” automatic transmission and front and rear electric motors that produce an estimated 800 net horsepower. Controls include Auto, Sport and Drag modes. Inside…

Tesla boss Elon Musk is hinting that the price for the highly anticipated electric pickup will climb above the $40,000 base price that was touted back in late 2019, even for buyers who have already reserved theirs. Also mentioned was an alteration in the Cybertruck’s specs, which could possibly mean less power and/or range. A 250-mile range has been touted for the base single-motor version, and up to 500 miles for the top-level three-motor models. Or it could also mean a reduction in maximum hauling and towing capacities, currently 3,500 pounds and 14,000 pounds, respectively. Whatever the change(s), Musk only…
